Job Description

Position Summary The Finance Intern will support the Finance Department by assisting with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, project accounting, and government contracting financial operations. This internship provides hands‑on experience in a federal contractor environment and exposure to financial processes supporting U.S. Government programs. Description The Finance Intern will work closely with finance, contracts, program management, and business operations personnel while developing practical skills in accounting, financial analysis, cost management, and federal compliance requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Support project accounting activities, including labor and cost tracking. Assist with monthly financial close activities and account reconciliations. Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management review. Support revenue, expense, and profitability reporting. Assist with contract funding and project financial monitoring. Review labor charging and timekeeping data for accuracy and compliance. Support Deltek Costpoint reporting and data analysis activities. Assist with indirect rate analysis and financial performance metrics. Participate in budgeting and forecasting exercises. Support invoice preparation and customer billing activities. Assist with financial audits and compliance reviews. Create and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and financial documentation. Support process improvement initiatives and financial data management projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. Preferred Qualifications Prior coursework in accounting, finance, statistics, or economics. Familiarity with financial reporting concepts. Experience using Microsoft Power BI, Excel dashboards, or data visualization tools. Interest in government contracting, telecommunications, defense, or technology industries. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if required. Physical Requirements Ability to work in an office environment. Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer systems. Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing computer‑based work. Internship Duration This is a temporary internship position that may be full‑time or part‑time and is generally structured for a period of 8 to 16 weeks based on business requirements and academic schedules.
