What You Will Do

• Assist President Mahony with recording, producing, and editing the SIU System Podcast
• Support video editing for SIU President Office Hours once launched
• Create evergreen graphic content for system social media
• Help coordinate, communicate, and track progress on the organization’s strategic plan
• Schedule and support meetings with goal teams, including tracking action items, timelines, and follow-ups
• Maintain organized notes, summaries, and meeting materials
• Contribute to the development of signature initiatives through research and stakeholder coordination
• Draft materials such as one-pagers, presentations, and internal updates

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field
• 6 months+ experience with podcast production assistance
• Higher education podcast assistance experience
• Experience working with cross-functional teams
• Experience supporting strategic planning or project management efforts

About Extra Help Positions:

Extra Help job listings typically close three days after the opening date, unless specified in the closing date. Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements. Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.

Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

Pre- Employment Screening: All external candidates who receive a job offer will be required to undergo pre-employment screening for this position. The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and, where applicable, other background checks such as a drug screen, verification of employment and education or licensure/certification, reference checks, and/or checks with relevant government registries. Additional Information: SIUE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship for this position will not be provided. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
