Job Title Boiler Operator Job Description Summary Working under a shift lead will be responsible for the observation and safe operation, adjustment, maintenance, repair, and operation compliance of stationary high-pressure steam boilers and Co-Gen turbine waste heat steam boilers at the site. As well as, all the ancillary mechanical equipment related to electric power generation, dry steam production, cooling tower water, air compressors, air dryers, and plant chiller operation. Essential Functions Observes pressure, temperature, electrical power output and makes necessary adjustments to maintain proper operation and compliance. Perform manual operations by opening and closing valves as well as the computer automation system to keep all systems operational. Observe boilers, turbines, and other mechanical equipment to detect malfunctions and leaks. Maintain all necessary logs of meter readings, levels, and chemistry required for operation. Test water chemistry as necessary for proper boiler water operation. Check lubrication levels and add as necessary to maintain safe operation of equipment. Perform routine maintenance to keep the facility operational. Monitor and troubleshoot process equipment in the field. Be able to shut systems down safely and startup as requested. Be able to switch boilers and turbines between natural gas and liquid fuels. Requirements New Jersey state license Black Seal High Pressure is a minimum requirement for this position. Blue High Pressure Preferred and Blue seal refrigeration. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of power plant operations, systems, and equipment. Must have Lock Out /Tag Out experience. Solid attention to detail. Team Player. Reliable and Dependable. New Jersey driver’s license and clean driving record. Universal EPA Recovery License. Must be able to work a rotating 3-shift schedule. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
