Job Description

About the Company:

Brewser’s Coffee started as a handmade mobile espresso cart in Los Angeles, CA, where founder and CEO Kamryn Scott solely operated the cart. She first posted up and served coffee in front of USC for two semesters after graduating from the university in 2024. When the opportunity presented itself, Kamryn moved Brewser’s to the Sony Pictures Lot and served there (with her new team!) for four months while the lot’s primary coffee shop was being remodeled. Being at Sony Pictures opened a lot of doors for Brewser’s, most importantly, our new storefront at the Topanga Social in the Topanga Westfield Mall! Though even as Brewser’s scales, we always want to stay true to our core values — building community, creating opportunity, and promoting sustainability.

What It Means to be a Brewser’s Barista:

Brewser’s has only become a powerful third space because of its incredible and welcoming baristas.

We are looking for people who not only love ( read: are obsessed with ) coffee and matcha but equally care about connecting with the shop’s customers. As a barista, you set the vibe of the space.

An ideal interaction with a customer would be personally engaging with them and bringing out your unique personality (no customer service robots!), then ensuring they walk away with a delicious drink. It is imperative we serve a good product, crafted with expertise and care, because a community can’t be built if there’s not a product worth coming back for!

What makes our baristas the best is their willingness to learn and passion for the craft of coffee. Even if you don't have years of experience, we believe the right attitude goes further than a long resumé. We invest in our team from day one through hands-on training and mentorship, so if you stay open to growing, the skills will follow.

Standard Barista Duties:

  • Prepare and serve top-tier beverages and baked goods!!!!!!!!
  • Perform opening/ closing tasks that sets up each day for success
  • Take customer orders; if asked, you can give recommendations and describe menu items
  • Operate a POS system and receive payment from customers in cash or card; accurately count and provide change as needed
  • Ensure constant cleanliness is a top priority, whether that is related to proper food handling or any sort of cleaning (work stations, tables, floors, equipment, etc.) – cleanliness is next to godliness
  • Ensure coffee supplies (cups, lids, napkins, sleeves, straws, etc.) are always stocked
  • Perform duties assigned by manager/ shift leads
  • Adhere to company policies, food and health safety standards, and hygiene protocols as required

Who We are Seeking:

  • Read “What It Means to be a Brewser’s Barista”
  • Proactive: If something looks out of place or you see something that needs to get done, you are a self-starter who does what needs to be done without being told
  • Patient: Each team member is at a different skill level, so you will show patience and kindness in equal measure. This includes lifting your teammates up, sharing what you know, or looking to your fellow baristas for guidance.
  • Flexible Availability: baristas are part-time and expected to work up to 20 hours a week beginning on early June. Our hours are still being solidified, but shifts will be anytime from 9am to 7pm.

Requirements

  • 6 months minimum of barista experience OR equivalent food service experience
  • Either already have or will obtain a Food Handler certification before starting
  • Able to lift 20+ pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Able to start employment early/mid-June
