This project encompasses building the system and operational support processes required by the Affordable Care Act. This includes creating a Health Insurance Exchange that will allow consumers to apply for public assistance benefits, such as, Medical Assistance, SNAP, and TANF; purchase private health insurance; receive tax credits or cost sharing reductions for health insurance. It will also include the ability for small business owners to purchase health plans for their employees.The project includes representatives from two state agencies Department of Economic Security – DES and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System – AHCCCS. The project is being led by the Governor’s office and facilitated by a non-profit private software company called Social Interest Solutions – SIS.For the Department of Economic Security, this project includes either replacement or significant enhancement to all of mainframe and web applications that support processes for public assistance today.
