Responsibilities Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Environmental Health & Safety Intern in our Carson, California location. We are seeking highly motivated and energetic students for the 2026 summer intern program at Howmet Fastening Systems. The program consists of 10-12 weeks of structured hands‑on training involving plant tours, seminars, networking events, and projects selected to add direct value to the business. At the conclusion of the program, interns will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors. An internship at Howmet Fastening Systems will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any roles, and it’s Howmet Aerospace’s goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry‑level openings. This position will report directly to the site’s Environmental Health & Safety Manager with daily coaching from the team’s engineers and technicians. The Howmet Aerospace Summer Internship Program will include engaging in impactful projects to assist the company and the student’s professional development. Conduct noise monitoring survey and develop a noise reduction plan with deadlines and SPA's to champion Develop a training matrix that is computer based Continuous improvement opportunities for incident investigations and audits Create an online platform for users to take advantage of mobile tablets Additional Requirements Able to work full time, onsite for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2026 Able to provide own transportation for position at Carson, California. Relocation assistance not provided Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree program by the start of employment. Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program related to the field of Environmental Health & Safety. (Environmental Health Science, Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science and/or Environmental Engineering Technology) Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) Must be proficient working in a Microsoft systems environment. Prior Internship work experience.
