About the Role
The Company is seeking a Data Governance Lead to establish and manage a comprehensive data governance framework that is in line with the organization's mission and values. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a data governance strategy, leading a small team, and ensuring that data policies, standards, and procedures are in place to enhance data quality, consistency, and accessibility. This role also involves ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations across various regions, acting as a subject matter expert on data governance, and promoting a culture of data literacy and stewardship. Applicants for the Data Governance Lead position at the company should be strategic thinkers with a strong leadership background and a deep commitment to the responsible use of data for social impact. Essential skills include a proven track record in data governance, data management, or information governance, experience in leading or mentoring a team, and a strong understanding of data protection and privacy principles, including GDPR. The role requires the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, excellent stakeholder management, and experience in developing data governance policies and frameworks. Desirable qualifications include experience in the charity, NGO, or international development sector, familiarity with cloud-based data environments, and knowledge of data quality and stewardship frameworks.
