Intact's Global Specialty Lines business spans across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK and Europe. The following opportunity is for our U.S. team.

We currently have an opportunity for a Computer Operator Specialist to join our IT team based on-site in our Needham, MA office. This opportunity is ideal for someone early in their IT career who has a foundational technology background and wants to apply and expand those skills in a production operations environment. You will gain hands-on experience supporting critical systems while learning how to assess impact, prioritize work and respond effectively to operational issues.

Some of the Computer Operator Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor production systems and scheduled jobs across multiple platforms.
  • Investigate job failures and system alerts, assess impact, and take appropriate action.
  • Follow documented procedures while applying critical thinking to non-standard situations.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate teams when needed and communicate clearly during incidents.
  • Execute production tasks such as job restarts, calendar updates, and recovery actions.
  • Monitor automated scripts that validate the availability of web-based applications.
  • Respond to alerts for infrastructure systems, including remote UPS and environmental monitoring.
  • Complete daily shift handoffs, checklists, and operational documentation.
  • Support and monitor local and remote data center infrastructure and security systems (local and remote).
  • Contribute to operational improvements, documentation updates, and team projects.
  • Provide on-site support. Regular shift hours: 2:00 PM 10:30 PM Monday Friday. Participation in after-hours, weekend, or holiday support as needed as part of a team rotation.

The expertise you bring:

  • Some technology background or experience such as:
    • IT related education or coursework
    • Certifications or self-directed learning
    • Internships, labs, or hands-on technical roles (help desk, operations, support, etc.)
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions in a production environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies
  • Reliability and attention to detail during operational tasks
  • College degree in IT or related field preferred.

Helpful but not required:

  • Familiarity with job scheduling, monitoring tools, or scripting concepts
  • Exposure to data center, infrastructure, or cloud environments
  • Experience working in a 24x7 or operational support setting
  • Azure Cloud experience

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $68,000 - $96,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $86,000 - $100,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
