Carle Health is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Clinical Sleep Health Educator to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will play a key part in improving patient health outcomes by providing education, coaching, and ongoing support to patients with sleep-related conditions such as insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, and other common sleep disorders. Working within a community-based, patient-centered model of care, you will collaborate closely with sleep medicine physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, effective, and sustainable sleep health practices. The Clinical Sleep Health Educator will guide patients and their families in understanding sleep disorders, treatment options, and the importance of adherence to prescribed therapies, including PAP and related respiratory support devices. You will conduct one-on-one and group education sessions, assist patients in adopting healthy sleep hygiene and behavioral strategies, and help troubleshoot common barriers to successful treatment. Using motivational interviewing and other evidence-based education techniques, you will empower patients to actively participate in their care plans, improve their quality of life, and reduce health risks associated with poor sleep. A key component of this position involves reviewing non-diagnostic elements of sleep studies and therapy reports, reinforcing physician recommendations, and providing practical education that supports clinical decision-making without independently diagnosing or prescribing. You will document education encounters and patient progress in the electronic health record, communicate updates to the broader care team, and participate in care coordination to ensure appropriate follow-up, continuity of care, and patient safety. In alignment with Carle Health’s culture of innovation, teamwork, and commitment to excellence, the Clinical Sleep Health Educator will contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives within the sleep health service line. You may assist with developing patient education materials, implementing group classes or workshops, tracking patient outcomes, and sharing feedback to enhance care pathways and patient experience. You will model professional behavior, uphold confidentiality and regulatory standards, and support a culture of respect, safety, and continuous learning. Employees at Carle Health can expect a collaborative environment where your expertise in patient education and sleep health is valued. You will have opportunities for professional growth through ongoing training, exposure to advanced clinical practices, and participation in innovative approaches to community-based sleep care. This role may involve a combination of in-clinic, group, and limited remote or telehealth education interactions, requiring strong communication skills, adaptability, and comfort with technology. The ideal candidate brings a background in healthcare or allied health, a solid understanding of sleep health principles, and a genuine passion for patient education. Success in this position depends on your ability to build rapport, explain complex concepts in understandable language, and support patients through behavior change and long-term treatment adherence. By joining Carle Health as a Clinical Sleep Health Educator, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission to improve patient outcomes and deliver high-quality, community-focused care.
