Assistant Store Manager Reports to: Store Manager Location: 3820 Sen J Bennett Johnston Avenue, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70615 Contract type: Full-Time, Permanent Contracted hours: 40 hours per week Position Overview The Assistant Store Manager helps plan, organize and manage all areas of a retail location, meeting or exceeding budgeted goals and working closely with the regional manager to maintain appropriate inventory levels of textbooks and general merchandise. What you will be doing Develop and maintain a good working relationship with faculty to obtain key information for textbook and merchandise areas. Schedule regular appointments and meet with administrative personnel to build rapport, discuss situations, and avoid potential problems. Recruit, hire, train, and maintain staff at appropriate levels according to company guidelines and budgets. Perform daily cash register operations, data entry of textbook information, textbook receiving and stocking, and end‑of‑day balancing. Answer telephone and email inquiries, providing all areas of customer service. Travel to and operate remote locations during each semester. Must have Three (3) to five (5) years in a college bookstore or retail operation. Two (2) years of supervisory capacity. Excellent team‑building skills. Demonstrated administrative skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent use of Microsoft Office Software. Good to have Two (2) years of college or its equivalent.
